Fresh Flavour Meets Local Sustainability

Good Food, Grown Close to Home

Bringing the best of Te Anau’s fields, farms, and flavours to your plate.

At The Fat Duck we champion high-quality, locally sourced, seasonally harvested ingredients. Led by Executive Chef and Co-Owner Cameron Davies, a two-time Beef + Lamb New Zealand Ambassador Chef, our kitchen transforms the region’s finest produce into simple, mouthwatering dishes that celebrate Fiordland and Murihiku.

Celebrating the Finest Cuts from Local Farmers

Premium New Zealand beef prepared with skill and care.

Our Pure South Handpicked beef comes from Alliance, New Zealand’s only 100% farmer-owned co-operative. With a marbling score of 4+ and aged for 55 days, this exceptional beef delivers tenderness, depth, and the rich flavour the South is known for.

Premium Lamb, Rooted in Our Land

Sustainably raised and locally sourced.

Just minutes from Te Anau, Burwood Station supplies our Lumina Lamb. Finished on specially cultivated herb pastures, this free-range lamb is renowned for its tenderness and clean, distinctive flavour that truly reflects our region.

Taste the True Essence of Fiordland Venison

Wild, natural, and full of character.

Our venison is sourced through Fare Game, who harvest from Fiordland’s untouched mountains. Lush vegetation, alpine water, and clean air produce beautifully lean, flavourful meat that honours its wild origins.

Fresh from Our Southern Waters

Honest flavours from coast to plate.

Fresh is Best in Bluff delivers same-day catch including blue cod, butterfish, paua, and salmon. We also partner with Harbour Fish and Akaroa King Salmon to offer a diverse range of responsibly sourced seafood that supports long-term sustainability.

Our Journey Toward a More Sustainable Fat Duck

We work closely with our community and suppliers to champion local ingredients, sustainable practices, and the wellbeing of our region.

Turning Bottle Caps into Community Good

We collect and donate bottle caps to the local Lions Clubs, where they’re recycled through the Kantabs project to support Kidney Kids NZ.

Reusable Cups Because Waste Isn’t on the Menu

By switching to reusable metal cups on the Again Again network, The Fat Duck are doing our part to reduce the 295 million disposable cups that end up in landfill each year.

Hard to Recycle? Not at The Fat Duck

We’re a local drop-off point for Tetrapak cartons, helping the Lions Recycling Centre turn hard-to-recycle packaging into sustainable Save Board building materials.

From Fat Duck Kitchen to Community

We repurpose all kitchen scraps through local chickens, composting, and thoughtful use of every part of the raw product.
